Fitness Era Loading

In February, I signed up for a fall marathon. A month later, I’m finally getting myself together to begin training. I haven’t been exercising consistently in about a year, so started things off a couple days ago with a quick 1.5 mile jog. I was fully prepared to be gasping for air, but honestly it was easier than expected. Then I went skiing next day. And then went for a climbing + light weight session the day after. And now I’m absolutely feeling the aftermath of all that activity. Really putting the delayed in delayed onset muscle soreness.

To make things even better, I signed up for my first personal training session this week. If I like it, I’ll probably sign up for regular sessions. I’m really hoping he can help me get a sense for proper form — something that’s always evaded me no matter how much research I’ve tried to do. Also I think scheduling sessions with him will inject some forced accountability into my fitness era. I know for a fact I won’t skip a workout if I’m paying money for it.

All this to say, I’m trying to exit my couch potato era and enter my fitness one. I’ve got to lock in for at least the next 6 months so that I can run this marathon and hopefully become my ideal self while I’m at it. Let’s see how this goes.
